Novice Bison Breeder Tips
1. New people in the Bison business should only buy calves. If you start out with older animals they will roam!
2. Be sure to have a good fence, corral, and handling system in place before you acquire your first animal.

Starting in 1985 we began breeding our foundation cows to choice Dr. Ken Throlson bulls. In 1996 we introduced two select Canadian bulls. These bulls all weighed in at 18 months around 1400 pounds.
We have both
served on the board of directors of the American Bison Association
(now called the National
Bison Association). Dave was a presentor at the 2007 National Bison
Association Conference for the breakout session "Farmers Market 101." He
also served on the bison stock show sales committee for a number of years.
This committee was responsible for the very successful National Western
Bison Show and Sale located in Denver each January. Sue was Treasurer
of this association in 1987-88.
Dave was a guest speaker at the April 2001 meeting of the Colorado Bison Association where he discussed the benefits of grass finishing meat bison bulls.
